Trolls and Bullies EDIT ~~~~17/04/12 UPDATE

This will be posted to both my Groups, even though they dont have anything to do with MLP, its virtually the same issue with all fandoms etc.

On the internet, you are bound to come across a fair few bullies, or trolls. Some of these people dont even seem to have a motive for being so mean. Personally, i think some types of trolling are okay. But only as long as it doesn't really hurt someone physically or mentally, and is only all in good fun.


I'd like to bring up the topic of being a "Brony" (or "Pegasis", if girls prefer to be called that). I myself am a (girl)brony, and like many other bronies know that their is a lot of hate out there for our fandom. Like all fandoms there are haters... and a small group of people that if they see anything related to the fandom will go off their nut and abuse people.

Its like being a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, is going to challenge someone elses masculinity, so they feel like they have to attack anyone who likes it, before we apparently attack them.

But being a fan of something doesnt hurt anyone in anyway. We shouldnt be picked on for what TV shows/movies/books/games or even clothes/colours/shoes we like. What each of us like is our own business, and unless someone tries to force their likes and dislikes down the others throat, we shouldnt get too hyped about things. Am I right?

But sadly we dont live in a perfect world.  There are always going to be bullies out there who attack people for petty reasons.

Personally i think that any children's show is only worthwhile to children if adults can enjoy it too. Such as many Disney films, Pixar films etc.  Its not like My Little Pony uses baby talk like Teletubbies and In The Night Garden (I think those shows are horrible, because it doesnt tach kids how to talk properly). MLP teaches almost EVERYONE, in big and small ways how to be a better person, if not for the sake of others then for yourself. This 'child's show' has touched the hearts of many people and has made them happy.

Just let us enjoy what we find happiness in, because you wouldnt want a bunch of people shooting you down about what you like.
I believe most of the brony community aren't asking you to love the show when they fight back against the bullies, all we want is to be respected as human beings, and to have a right to like and dislike whatever we want.

If you dont like something someone else does, dont hate on them. Keep it to yourself, or converse about it with other people who dislike it. Or ultimately, just ignore whatever it is you dislike. Most people, especially Bronies arent going to take any notice of you, and often people with similar interests are going to band together to say "No! Its not okay to be mean to us like that!"

The reporting system does work, though sometimes it may take a while to get a reply, the deviantART staff do the best they can to make this entire community enjoyable for everyone.

I had reported deviant Chris200343 because of his disgusting behaviour towards people, specifically fan artworks for 'My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic'. He had personally attacked the artists and anyone that stuck up for them, one day almost every deviation i saw to do with MLP, had his abuse in the comments.

This deviant purposefully looks for any deviation to do with My little Pony, and criticizes anyone who comments positively on the works.
I've noticed him/her a lot lately, especially on works that get on the front page.

I know other deviants (myself included) probably should just ignore him. But all we are trying to do is make him realise is comments wont be tolerated by fans of the show, as he is just being childishly nasty to us.

I think he needs to be stopped, as he is being a bully.
I would be saying this even if it were to do with any other show/game etc.

This deviant did the wrong thing, and they suffered the consequences for breaking deviantART rules. This was not an attack on a hater. And this is certainly not to be seen as a 'win' for the brony community because this is not a game, its real life where people can get hurt.
People are allowed to feel how ever they like about things, but when they hurt other people because of it, it becomes unacceptable.

In short, the Support Staff are your friends, they will do the best they can to stop people breaking the rules, but a lot of cases can go unseen unless people report the problems.
